On Thursday, May 7th, the Dominican Film Festival held it’s star studded “Night of 1000 Friends Spring Soiree” honoring NY born comedian, writer, actress, and producer, Kiki Melendez—a Dominican descent Latina whose entrepreneurial skills have opened the doors for many Latin comedians and actors. She has found a valuable niche in the Hollywood market that she has been able to successfully fill—helping to build a platform for Latinos to express their artistic talents.

The Dominican Film Festival’s founder and Executive Producer, Armando Guareno hosted the extravaganza at Vacca Bar & Grill in the Sherman Creek area of uptown Manhattan. The event helps to raise funds to support the Dominican Film Festival whose mission is to promote the new generation of Dominican filmmakers as well as the established ones, its film industry, and to strengthen the vital and expanding economic and cultural relationship with the United States.
