Meet Heidi Alzate Kaufman, Hispanic Woman of Distinction, President, Heidi Alzate Consulting

Heidi Alzate Kaufman is, first and foremost, a fundraising executive who has dedicated her career to helping fund people’s dreams in the non-profit sector. Having a passion to give back to the community and to embracing her background, Heidi is now the founder and President of Heidi Alzate Consulting. This firm is dedicated to representing minority business leaders and to setting a path for future young women entrepreneurs.

Heidi began fundraising full-time by focusing on public and private higher education, social services and healthcare. She was part of the development team with NSU-FLORIDA that secured the largest gift the University had seen from a private family foundation of $250 million dollars, which led to the 330,000 square- foot regional campus on Florida’s west coast that houses four of NSU medical colleges and supports over 6,000 medical students.

At the age of 35, as Vice President of Development for Chapman Partnership, she quickly developed and strengthened the infrastructure for existing donors by building a new culture of philanthropy in one of Miami’s pre-eminent homeless institutions. Heidi also brought her expertise in education as Director of Strategic Partnerships and Fund Development for Charter Schools USA. Also, as Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving for the Broward College Foundation, Heidi, along with her team’s, secured multiple partnerships leading to $5 million in gifts.

Heidi, a daughter of Colombian parents, earned her BA in Psychology, and holds her CFRE designation from International. Which is the only globally recognized certification for Fund Raising Executives across the world.

Even with her busy career, Heidi finds time to volunteer with the United Way Women’s United group, REYNA Group homes that house children with autism, and as a public policy advocate, she advocates for the Universal Pre-K voucher, the funding for A.L.I.C.E. that helps families to receive proper funding to avoid homelessness in our community.

She is married to Jason Kaufman, an attorney, and as newlyweds, they have blended their families of four fantastic children, and they all reside in Davie, Florida. She says that making memories with her family is one of her favorite activities, along with her private Zen space where she enjoys yoga and Pilates.
