Business, politics and tequila…the Barreto’s

Tributo Tequila marks the latest small-batch, high-quality entry into the market, and the owner has impressive ties in both the U.S. Latino business community as chairman of The Latino Coalition and in national political circles. Hector Barreto gained national recognition from his five-year presidential appointment as head of the Small Business Administration.

He also champions the contributions of another gentleman with the same name—his father. Barreto founded “Tributo a mi Padre, Tequila,” to acknowledge Hector Barreto, Sr. and the contributions his late father made to improve the lives of U.S. Mexican immigrants and help them find voices in their communities and American politics.
The senior Barreto came from Mexico City, Mexico, where he was born on August 23, 1935. Barreto immigrated to the United States in 1958, beginning work as a farm laborer. Barreto had great personal ambition and skill, advancing by hard work to own restaurants and an import/export business that kept ties with Hispanic businesses in the United States and Mexico. He became politically active and joined Ronald Reagan’s transition team, becoming good friends with George H.W. Bush. The senior Barreto founded the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and worked actively in the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, which he also helped organize.

Tributo Tequila brand acknowledges Hector Barreto, Sr. and his contributions as a father, immigrant, business owner, Hispanic entrepreneur, and one of the most influential names in Hispanic business. Clean and intensely amber, Anejo Tributo adds notes of oak, vanilla, fruit and nuts to the agave to create a full-bodied flavor with the complexities of caramel and fine wood.
