Cesar Millan Leader of the Pack
Is it your general impression that people underestimate the intelligence of dogs?
It is not that they underestimate their intelligence. Rather it is that they insist on treating them like small, furry humans. Dogs are pack animals, and most problems occur when we treat them like our children, behaving like Dr. Spock instead of a pack leader That is why I try to share the basics of what I call dog psychology. Understanding your dog from the dog’s point of view is the first step.
We just started working on a new season of the show, and I am very excited because this time we’re traveling to cities around the country-New York, Cleveland, Atlanta, Omaha, Chicago. It will be a great way to compare issues that dogs have in different parts of the country, and to give thanks to more of the people across the nation who’ve become fans and great supporters of the show.
Do you have plans to expand beyond what you’re doing now?
Well, having had a TV show on the National Geographic Channel, a book, and a DVD, plus our newsletter and website, it makes me tired lust thinking about what else I could do! Still, I always get excited at any new, creative opportunity to spread knowledge about dog behavior and responsible dog ownership, so the future is wide open. t am just thankful for all of the success we have had, and I owe a great deal of thanks to my family, my wife, Illusion, and our two boys, and to the great team I work with every day.
