Hyatt Regency San Antonio is one of the Alamo City’s most luxurious downtown hotels. The AAA, Four Diamond property is uniquely situated on the famous San Antonio Riverwalk with a premier view of the historic Alamo – It has hosted Fiesta Royalty and rock stars, and is the home of social galas and the most coveted spot for River Parades and the annual Holiday Lighting ceremony.

The property is sandwiched right in between two of San Antonio’s most famous landmarks, and it is the only hotel with a river running through it. With its 16 story atrium lobby, awe inspiring views of both the Alamo and the Riverwalk and the Paseo Del Alamo walkway connecting the hotel to the Alamo, the AAA Four Diamond Rated property has been unlike anything the city had ever seen since it opened in 1982.

Now, as it faces its third decade, Hyatt Regency San Antonio has completed a $30 million makeover preserving its rich history and solid reputation as one of downtown San Antonio’s premier destinations.

The lobby creates an impact with materials that uniquely represent the San Antonio influence. Warm, natural tones beautifully compliment the extensive use of wood and glass throughout the area. Latté colored marble tiles make up the lobby floor and the hotel ceilings have been sheet rocked to a smooth finish.

The renovation was designed to enhance the hotel as well as the guest experience, which can be seen upon arrival, as the front desk has been replaced with Walnut and white Persian marble “pods” that allowing the agents to easily come from behind the desk and interact with the guests. The open lobby is filled with artwork specifically commissioned to compliment the new “urban lodge” ambiance. Two large, square, woven leather panels, in walnut frames, protrude slightly from the wall behind the front desk, while a branch sculpture suspended from a large wooden frame hangs in front of an original hammered concrete wall.

One of the most prominent art installations is an oversized glass sculpture created by San Antonio artist Gini Garcia, which hangs from over the lobby seating area. This stunning 9’x6’ focal point consists of 72 strands of 453 glass chips that dangle from a thin cable 4’ to 11’ from the ceiling. The subtle clear, champagne, gold topaz and amber shades perfectly capture the rich and warm environment and create a pattern similar to looking through water at the ocean floor.
