4. Be open to all types of business even if it might be a bit out of your comfort zone.
When you develop a client, he may want you to do things that are new to you. Embrace this and look at it as a learning experience and a way to expand your capabilities and value. Keep in mind that it is easier to keep a customer than to find a few one.
5. Being on your own can be a bit scary, especially because you many times don’t have long-term visibility into where your revenue will come from.
Owning your own business is not for the faint of heart, but the benefits definitely outweigh the disadvantage of not always knowing where your business is coming from. For me personally, I have times that I worry but so far I have been fine and the concern has become much less.
6. In addition to having a strong network for customers, be sure to have a network of people you can call on to help in the event you have more work than you can handle.
I have a team of people that I bring in for projects when I need additional resources.
No Regrets
Being my own boss has been a great experience and I have no regrets. I work as hard as I always did, but I am the one who benefits, rather than my employer. That is a great feeling!
