Manuel Huerta, triathlon: Of all the Olympians on this list, triathlete Manuel Huerta may be the proudest to represent the United States in London. His grandmother fled Cuba in the 1980 Mariel boatlift. Huerta, who would race into the ocean to help fishermen haul in catches and bring fish home to his mother, says he is incredibly grateful to the country that helped his parents pursue a better life.

Sarah Robles, Giuseppe Lanzone, Amy Rodriguez

Sarah Robles, weightlifting: Hailing from San Jacinto, California, Sarah Robles is excited to represent the United States at her first Olympics. Though teammate Holley Mangold has captured the lion’s share of media attention, look for Robles to make her own mark in London.
