A Little “Haute Hippie” Brings Out Our Summer Lovin’ Personality

Hello Fashionistas,

The weather is finally starting to turn, the daffodils and hyacinths are popping up and creating some splash in our yards, and hopefully you’ve all taken care of the annual chore of filing your taxes. That means we can get back to the important business of enjoying the start of spring, putting away those dreary winter clothes and talking about Spring/Summer fashion trends to perk up your wardrobe!

A little “Haute Hippie” Brings Out the Summer Lovin’ Personality in all of us!

One of the main trends that is happening is what I refer to as “Haute Hippie”. It’s our boho inspired outlook. And yes, I know—many of you will say, “well that’s nothing new”, and you would be incorrect. It’s true that this has become almost a staple when it comes to fashion trends and it seems to occur on a repeating basis.

Part of that has to do with the fact that so many festival events have started to crop up around this time period. One of the most important ones being California’s, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival which has really led the way in bringing this trend to an all time high. With it’s draw for both established major musical acts and new groups just starting to make the scene as well as celebrities and socialites, it has instantly created a platform for everyone to be noticed.

The inspiration for this look—this time we bring in some great pops of vibrant color in the way of beading and embroidery to liven the look up

The Details that Make the Look….

So even if we can’t be at the festival, we want to look like we are in full festival mode and that usually means lots of denim, lace, crochet—anything that brings to mind the laid back era of the ‘70’s. What makes the trend different each season is really trying to add some new elements into the mix. Take a look at some of the key details that will make you stand out from the rest of the crowd.

Some of the newest materials, textures, and patterns being used include bits of rainbow colored yarns and fabrics, rich colored suedes and fringe, multicolor crochet stitches, and tons of native American influence.

Lots of fun design details to freshen the look up include tassles and multi-color beads. And poncho shapes, jumpsuits, crops and a-line skirts add some spice to the traditional boho feel.

Bring On the Accessories…

What’s really going to make this trend special this season is all of the fun bright beading. Native influenced bracelets and earrings are really important to play against all of the crochet, denim, and lace—they add the DRAMA! And keep your eyes peeled for beaded sandals—there are tons of options out there in easy flat thong and slip on sandals, but I’m scouting for some great heels. They are not easy to come by….

Imagine these bold colors next to the natural shades of ivory lace and crochet—all you need is a little sun on your skin and you are set!

Happy Spring Fashionistas!
