Confidence is Key to Getting Hired
Confidence creates trust
Confidence is magical. Con men cheat or trick people into doing something by means of a confidence game. I recently saw a documentary about a man that held a number of jobs he had no qualifications for. The most amazing one involved him working as a doctor for several months before the hospital discovered he was not a licensed physician! A similar story led to the production of a movie Catch Me if You Can with an all-star cast including Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. The protagonist in the story [Frank William Abagnale Jr. in real life> conned millions as a doctor, pilot and attorneyall before his 19th birthday.
To be clear, I, of course, am not suggesting you cheat, lie or trick anyone into hiring you for a job you are not qualified for! What I am suggesting is that confidence is powerful and often trumps required skills. As long as you are 100 percent confident that you can do the job and you can instill that confidence in the person making the decision, you should NOT let the fact that you are missing a required skill get in the way of your pursuit of that job.
