Day 7 in the Life of a Blogger: A little Gypsy Soul Style to Channel Into the Weekend

by Tina Trevino

We made it…we made it…we made it…..We have completed a full 5 day work week and are soon to be closing in on a full 7 day week of blogging all things fashionista!! WTF????

I have to say it has been fun but this week has also been crazy stressful. And to boot, I woke up today with a horrible stomachache–the likes that would make you think I had consumed 7 chili cheese dogs and 3 pitchers of beer when in actuality, I had quite a mild evening. My guess is that I was stressed out about my big meeting today….which actually went off quite “rock star”!!! Kudos to my team–Sue, Nina, Eleni—what an awesome meeting!!!

That in flux feeling had me off my game and although I had already planned a very serene ladylike outfit for today, I totally had a change of plans and decided to thow some crazy variables into my outfit. I call it the Friday mash-up. If you are reading this, we will consider this our disclaimer and that  you have agreed that we cannot be held responsible for the results of your day based on your wardrobe choices. If you are not a trained professional, please do not try this. I am attempting to pull off a bohemian, tropical rocker chic triple lindy. I think it works–I mean, duh, of course it works! My hubby threw me off my game though when I was giving him a good-bye kiss this morning as I was leaving the house.  He who had rolled in at 12:30 last night (virtual hand gesturing parenthesis inserted here) from happy hour said–“oh you look cute. you look like a little bumble bee”…bzzzzz…..bzzzzzz….not the look I was going for! I will chalk that up to the XY chromosome mix that is such a handicap to the male species. Those poor things.

Points….who’s giving points for this outfit????

Butter yellow faux leather jacket with perforated detail from Dillard’s, knotted fringe mini skirt from Dillard’s, and adorable Michael Kors wicker handbag with turquoise accents from my friend Marushka at Ravishing Resale at 8127 W. 3rd. in LA. She has one of the most beautifully edited collections of high end consignment designer goods.

A close-up of the perf work on this jacket. So hot!!!

The hottest tropical shoes EVER!!! I absolutely LOVE these. They are from a store on Oxford St. London called Schuh (that is “shoe” for all you slow to the conversation–it’s OK–it took me a while too). They have some hotness going on!

The cutest little Puma flats for commuting. They are so slick they look like little sportscars!

A close-up of that beautiful resale Michael Kors bag.

Accessories for the day include turquoise dangle earrings purchased on a trip to Puerto Rico last summer and my super special turquoise necklace. I know this is crazy, but this necklace has been with me for 40 years! I know I am giving my age away here. But what makes this so special is that my mom gave it to me as a child. She planned that when she was going to go into labor with my little brother, she wanted to have a few gifts for me to make me feel special while she was away in the hospital having my baby brother. This happened to be one of my gifts. I have managed to hang onto it and just had it re-strung last year so that it would fit me perfectly at my current age of …….27!! Yep…..27!!!

The Friday Best Seller Scoop…

One of our favorite accounts based in NY. They already have an early fall best seller sweater! Everyone loves the mixed media–sweater and lace mixing

Also at Delia’s…the boyfriend cardigan….can’t wait to see how this performs….

Trend Right Info….

Gypsy Soul is another one of our company big picture trends for Spring/Summer 2015. It reflects a boho spirit with a bit of an edge. We see some sophisticated shapes mixing with traditional boho details. We also see pops of neon color helping to add some amplitude to the look!

The Best Laid Plans for Meetings are Still In Work up to the Last Minute!!!!

Running around this morning like a crazy person to pick up last minute samples needed for a 9AM meeting. Nothing like getting it together LAST MINUTE!!! No peeking–you’ll see it in a bit…

Bohemian style….these babies just rolled in from our early AM Fed Ex package. Ready to show for our meetings this morning. Love the easy Boho feel!!!!

Lead Cut & Sew Designer, Lauren (otherwise known as L.V.) rocking the no closure vest!!! Work it, work it!!

This little baja stripe group has gotten phenomenal reviews all week. It has that Gypsy Soul feel too. I can’t wait to get orders on this and see it perform in stores. I love it. It is product that I would buy and wear at the beach. I’ll keep you all looped in once it gets booked so you can find a place to purchase it….it’s so beachy and cozy!!

Home Sweet Home….

And after finally catching up on all the regular details of the day, I am happy to be home in suburbia

I know this is technically a fashion blog, but I love my red wine so I’m going to put in a plug for Steele Zinfandel 2010. Out of the gate, out of the bottle, no need to decant–it will rock your world!!! Tastes a bit like chocolate and mint…yum!! And what better to go with it than a few catalogues to catch up on for some fun fall shopping!!

And moving on to some super fun choices. It is a bit like deja vu in my closet with my shoes. Eeny, meeny, miney, mo…..although I know which one is my favorite choice…..

Fashionistas, it has been a whirlwind week and I have enjoyed taking you along for the ride. Let’s chill out for the weekend and see when we meet up again!! Cheers!
