Fall Fashion Kick-Off!!
Hello Fashionistas,
I know it’s so sad that we are desperately grasping to the last remains of summer, but fear not–every season is fun for a different reason. Just think–now you can start to plan your new fall wardrobe and if you’re anywhere in the upper 1/3 of the U.S., you can truly start to think about sweaters, pants, jackets, boots, etc.—who couldn’t use a change in fashion scenery??
I have been enjoying my month of August just as the Europeans do and making it my “vacation month” as you may have noticed from my last few blog posts. I can see why you might start to wonder about my commitment to the “fashionista” part of the content, but I am getting ready to get back on the Fall 2014 fashion bandwagon!! I always feel that fall is when fashion is at it’s most exciting!! I’ll be busy with market week next week in our showroom and I have lots of exciting meetings going on–they are so top secret I can’t even tell you and it’s killing me!! Fall Fashion week has also been going on in the city. And lastly, I’ll be embarking on my annual fall fashion trend finding mission trip to London/Paris/Dusseldorf in a couple of weeks. This is when fashion is at it’s most inspiring for me! I get to see what’s in stores for Fall 2014 and my brain shifts into development for Fall 2015 for work—so many seasons, so little time!!! But I love it!!!
So with the beginnings of fall fashion starting to surround us, but still with the crazy, unbearable, hot humid NY weather this past week–today was questionable as to how it would shake out. I was thoroughly exhausted from a hectic week of getting things ready for our busy market week so I managed to catch a few extra zzz’s this morning to get recharged, but once I got up and running and had a bit of caffeine, I knew I would be thoroughly bored if I just sat around all day today in my cozy central air conditioned house. I decided I would take you on a local tour of some of the best boutiques in my neck of the woods.
Put your sunglasses on, hop in the car with me for a little joyride. We’re headed just a bit south of my home–we’ll crank some fun summer music with the sunroof open (and blast the air) and hit the road to do some fall preview shopping!!!! Bring your credit cards!!
Tenafly, NJ
This is one of my new finds, courtesy of Paul Sprieser (our boat captain from my “Everything Under the Sun” blog entry).
His wife is cousins with Gina Curko, the owner of See Saw Boutique in Tenafly. Opened in 2004, she carries a hands down beautiful collection of designer brands. She has an amazing eye for wonderful details in fashion. I loved chatting with her today because just like me, she is so fired up about clothing–there’s just something about people who admire the beauty in design. It’s a bit like an adrenaline rush!!

My next stop in Tenafly is Mint, which is a designer consignment shop of really high end accessories. The store had just received a large collection of Chanel jewelry and handbags when I walked in the door. The most gorgeous collection of pieces I’ve ever had the pleasure to lay my eyes on….good finds if you can hit it right…
