José Alex Gómez has joined La Opinión as director of marketing. Most recently, he was account director at Ethnic Marketing Group, where he was leading the Hispanic-integrated marketing efforts for ConAgra Foods. In 2002, Mr. Gómez also started his own agency, GrupoGómez Publicidad, right after leaving Anita Santiago Advertising where he had been executive vice president of strategic services. Prior to that, he worked as account supervisor/director at several advertising agencies—Ad Americas (now Castells & Asociados), Dieste & Partners, and BBDO Worldwide, where he developed creative marketing campaigns and supported product launches for clients such as Pepsi-Cola, Mitsubishi Motor Sales, Pizza Hut, NIKE, Carl’s Jr. and Vons Grocery.

Eddie Gonzalez has been named chairman and CEO of the Bravo Group, in addition to his responsibilities as CEO of Young & Rubicam (Y&R) Latin America. He succeeds Gary Bassell, who is leaving to pursue other interests. Mr. Gonzalez began his career in 1982 at Y&R Puerto Rico, and the following year was named its managing director. Under Mr. Gonzalez’s leadership, Y&R Latin America has grown into the second-largest network in the region and is among the top creative agencies in Latin America. Mr. Gonzalez has worked for Y&R across four continents, and prior to his current position, he was chairman and CEO of Y&R Madrid, leading Y&R’s Spanish agencies. He also held senior management roles in Asia.
