Volt in electric mode is a world class automobile
The Volt is a world class automobile in electric mode. My first reaction was surprise at how smooth it rode and how quite it was.
The acceleration is brisk. There is a enjoyable push back into the seats from the g-force created from hard acceleration. In electric mode this car compares favorably to comparably sized Mercedes Benz, Lexus or BMW. At $30,000 after tax incentives it is a steal compared to Mercedes Benz, Lexus or BMW prices.
When the car shifts to its gasoline engine the Volt drops a notch in driving enjoyment. If you went from driving a gasoline car to driving the Volt in gasoline mode you would not see such a difference. But moving from electric to gasoline in the Volt is like going from first class seating to coach.
It is still a good car. But it is no longer a superior experience. That probably explains why Volt owners have a vibrant Facebook community where they share learning on how to maximize electric operations.
The Volt is good for business
The Volt is a business car that your clients, your accountant and you will like. Your brand identity with clients will be enhanced from driving a plug-in electric car. Your accountant will document the superior economics of this car. And you will enjoy getting behind the wheel for another day of driving to clients and business sites.
