10 Top Tablets for Business Use
Sony Tablet S
Sony is known for creating quality electronics, and the Tablet S continues that tradition. The Tablet S is built to provide a beautiful image with its 9.4-inch LED backlit screen. Under the hood, the Tablet S uses a Tegra 2 dual-core processor, which powers the 3.2 version of the Android operating system. The tablet comes with a micro-USB port and full-sized card reader, allowing for plenty of flexibility when it comes to connectivity. The Tablet S also features DLNA and IR capabilities, further consolidating a business leaders electronics needs down to just this one device. The Tablet S is highly rated by both CNET and PC Mag.
Toshiba Thrive
The Thrive was designed to offer some of the best performance available on the tablet market. The tablet features a Tegra 2 APU with integrated graphics capabilities. The display looks nice, but does top out at a 720p resolution, as opposed to the 1080p of many other competitors. The Thrive runs on Androids 3.1 version of the Honeycomb operating system, and manages to provide between six and 10 hours of battery power. While the Thrive was once at the top of the tablet heap, and still manages to be one of the most popular tablets, its capabilities come up a little short in the ever-expanding lineup of popular tablets.
Amazon Kindle Fire
No tablet, outside of the new iPad, has garnered more press this past year than the Kindle Fire. While small compared to some tablets, the Fire offers a beautiful screen and intuitive user interface. The problem for small business owners is the Fire is really still more of an entertainment device than full-featured tablet. Amazon only allows a small number of Android apps to be used on the device, and most have little productivity use, leaving users with little recourse in getting productivity apps onto the device. Of course, Amazon never really intended this to be a full-feature tablet, so its failings in these matters should be no surprise. For an e-reader, the Fire is near the top of the heap, but Hispanic leaders looking to use a tablet to expand their business should definitely look elsewhere.
Motorola XOOM
While a little older, the XOOM stands up to even the most modern Android tablets. The 10.1-inch tablet features a Tegra dual-core processor, a sharp 1080p screen, micro-USB and HDMI output ports, and dual cameras. User reports show that the tablet performs remarkably when using the Internet or applications. The device, which runs on Androids Honeycomb operating system has access to numerous applications through the Android Market. Separating itself from many other Android tablets, the XOOM is available with a 3G or 4G connection, allowing business leaders to stay connected even when outside of Wi-Fi range.
