Adventures Abound With Career Opportunities

by Lily Winsaft

What gets in the way of considering new opportunities?

Here are the top 10 reasons:

#10 – I know someone who did this and didn’t like it.

#9 – Something better is sure to come along.

#8 – It doesn’t look like what I really want.

#7 – I’m happy with how things are.

#6 – I don’t trust the source

#5 – It sounds too good to be true.

#4 – I don’t have time to look into this.

#3 – I’ve thought it through and it is not for me (sometimes valid).

#2 – I could lose what I have. This is FEAR (even if we’re not totally happy but feel comfortable and afraid of change).

#1 – What if it doesn’t work out? Another form of FEAR (we don’t tell ourselves we’re scared).

Adventure On!

If you have any of these thoughts when considering an opportunity, it is a sign that you are not done looking at the possibilities. Once you get to the point of considering all angles and factors, and you can’t think of any more reasons. If you can “choose” freely one way or another, then you can safely say you’ve opened the door and looked at the opportunity. Adventure on!
