LBT: How did you build your business in an economic downturn?

Mr. Santalo: The situation at that time (circa 2008) was not optimal to start a company, as the U.S. economy was experiencing turbulent times. However, through the support of friends and family, I found the courage to follow what I consider the best advice I have received in business: “You just have to go for it.”

We were able to obtain capital from local angel investors quite quickly, thanks in large part to the positive reputation I am grateful to have made for myself as an experienced entrepreneur and successful businessman in the Miami community.

LBT: How were you able to attract angel investors and venture capitalists?

AS: Having an IT company in Miami represents a challenge for raising capital. The majority of the investors in the industry are located in Silicon Valley, and their preference is to have the companies they support move to that area. We were able to go to Silicon Valley and raise capital for the company from two mayor venture capital groups, which had enough faith in our leadership capabilities to feel very comfortable supporting CareCloud from its home in South Florida.
