Silvia is the first woman and Latina in her position!
Currently, Silvia is the Acting Communications Director for Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) where she provides timely strategic communications counsel to all levels of the organization.
Prior to joining the MLBPA, she led communications strategy and execution, corporate social responsibility, and charitable giving as Senior Vice President and Director of Corporate Communications for the nationally recognized and fully integrated regional financial services firm, First Horizon National Corporation.
Silvia’s communications career has included work as the Acting Associate Commissioner, Marketing & Communications for the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs. She managed the Department’s communications efforts, including the development of digital content and public awareness campaigns geared towards targeted audiences throughout New York City. As the director of multicultural & charitable communications for Major League Baseball, Silvia developed the press strategy for national events and community initiatives, including the League’s annual All-Star Game and World Series.
In addition to the sports industry, she has worked with consultants and at public relations agencies, executing consumer product launches and promotions for brands such as SAP, Goya Foods, and Absolut Vodka. Silvia’s successful track record of working with senior executives includes having served as a strategic communications counselor and spokesperson in both the campaign and government offices of U.S. Senator Cory A. Booker and New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.
Silvia earned her Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University and a Master of Arts from Middlebury College.
