How to Beat the Summer Small Business Lull

2. Question everything.
Don’t take for granted that what you are told, no matter how credible the person or persons, is the truth.
Analyze and ask yourself if what you are hearing is really true or if it just a belief that the person or group of persons have. Say no to any belief that doesn’t make sense or that holds you back. Being told the summer will be slow for business, even if you have experienced this yourself, is a belief that you can either accept or not.
Don’t accept it.
3. Design a plan to get around the belief. Plan ahead by asking your customers or prospects about their vacations.
Become genuinely interested in their summer plans and work around them. Know which customers will be gone and when they will be gone.
Organize yourself around the facts. Work powerfully with your calendar.
4. Get creative and step outside of the box.
For example, if you are calling on a company account, make sure you build relationships with multiple decision makers at that account. Don’t rely on just one person at that account for your business.
5. Take care of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally.
When you are well in all these areas, you are less susceptible to buying into belief systems that do not serve you.
Physical strength gives you the stamina to work those extra hours that might be needed in order to meet your sales goals in the summer months.
Mental clarity allows you to have greater discernment when it comes to knowing what is true. And emotional stability paves the way for self-motivation and the desire to do your job joyfully.
And by all means, be diligent about going on your own vacation!
