Latina Ecuadorian American Founder Fundación
Meet Inés Bautista Capote, 2025 Hispanic Woman of Distinction, Founder and President, Fundación Mayor Poder (Ecuador) and Senior Power Foundation (Florida)
“Today, Hispanic women are leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, mothers, advocates for social causes, and agents of change. Our strength lies in our adaptability, resilience in the face of challenges, and commitment to our communities.”
Inés Bautista Capote has ensured that senior citizens in Ecuador and Florida have not been forgotten. As founder and president of Fundación Mayor Poder in Ecuador and Senior Power Foundation in Florida, her organizations are committed to promoting active and dignified aging.
For most of her life, Inés’s social commitment to all those most vulnerable has grown by working with older adults, a population she considers essential to the fabric of society. She is a graduate of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja where she earned a B.A. degree in general psychology.
In Ecuador, she was the director of the services for the care of older adults under the local government in 16 senior day centers that serve 1,800 older adults. Here, Inés created numerous free programs including “With Hands and Hearts, We Build Families,” “Voices of Change,” “Golden Entrepreneurs” and several others aimed at engaging families to encourage intergenerational relationships and empowering seniors to be seen, heard, and valued. Through public awareness campaigns, community events, institutional partnerships, and international forums, she continues to be a voice for those too often overlooked.
In Florida, Inés has participated in charitable events for the Red Cross, the Cancer Association, St. Jude Foundation, Go Red for Women through the Heart Association, Kristi House, Miami Women’s Club, Powerhouse Workshops & Consulting, UnitedHome Care, Alliance for Aging, AARP, Latinos for Freedom Foundation, South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Her activism has earned her recognition from the City of Miami (Doral) and Latinos for and from the Decentralized Municipal Government of Samborondón, Ecuador, along with a “Keepers of the Flame of Human Rights” award.
Inés is married to Carlos Capote, a distributor of agricultural products in the United States and Canada. They have four children, Inés, Efren, Daniella and Carolina and enjoy traveling.
