Latinas and Everyday Leadership for Work and Life

.
Then I asked myself the tough question, how do I realistically prioritize and align all of these goals?
If only I could add hours to the day, it would have been so easy. But time is not infinite and I had to come to grips with that reality. I genuinely wanted to change how I felt internally. I needed to release the sense of being overwhelmed and feeling guilty for not doing it all in one day. I wanted to feel and know that I was as successful in the aspects outside of my career as I am in my field of work. Deep down, I also wanted to change the image that would pop into Moms mind when she thought of me.
I created my personalized Everyday Leadership business plan that included conversations with my spouse, children, Mom and other family stakeholders, to share with them my plan and agree on expectations, roles and how to best approach me when I would steer off course.
I have learned that approaching my life from an Everyday Leadership perspective is a process. Because life is a process, you learn as you go. It requires time, deliberate dedication, crucial conversations, follow up, flexibility and resiliency. I have also learned that it is OK to say NO…very difficult for a LATINA. I still, from time to time, find myself wanting to do it all. In those moments of weakness, I rewind the conversation with my MOM and remind myself that it is perfectly fine to be a work in process.
