Puerto Rican Latina Marketing and Media Exec Also Supports Healthcare Organizations
Emily Zubizarreta, 2018 Hispanic Woman of Distinction, Chief Executive Officer & Chief Marketing Officer, Miami Women Who Rock & Biz Media
“In a society where there are so many conflicting messages to Hispanic women and the definition of success, we need to emphasize it starts from the heart and at home.”
When Wall Street’s Goldman Sachs had the good sense to tap into the Hispanic market, Emily (Zubi) Zubizarreta was there to help crash that glass ceiling by being one of the first Latinas they hired. Her duties were to develop programs for skills such as client services, presentation and sales training and her workshops were offered internationally for the company.
After leaving Goldman Sachs, Emily was instrumental in launching MTV for Latin America and ten other networks including Nickelodeon, E! Entertainment and HBO Latin America.
Since finding her own success, she has led the charge toward making sure that other women’s business potential and health concerns were a top priority to her life’s goals.
In 2008, Emily founded and is CEO of “Miami Women Who Rock,” an organization that each year honors exceptional and diverse women in the Miami community. Under that group’s philanthropic umbrella, she created “Fifty Shades of Pink.” That initiative focuses on educating women about breast cancer and has raised more than $40,000 for cancer research.
They also have supported the Women’s Breast Health Initiative, Chapman Partnership and the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida among others. “Miami Women Who Rock” also conducts workshops for women on health, finances, nutrition and inspiration. Emily hopes to expand the program to other cities.
Emily also serves as the Chief Marketing Officer for Biz Media, Miami, a boutique agency that provides media representation, branding, marketing, sales and presentation training.
She’s often interviewed on television and has been subject of numerous articles for her fundraising, business and community efforts in the “Miami Herald,” “El Nuevo Herald,” “Ocean Drive Magazine” and other local and national publications.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, this tireless Puerto Rican has been honored by “South Florida Luxury Guide Magazine” as a “Woman of Style and Substance.”
She serves on the board of Baba’s Bunch, a group that helps families afflicted with Alzheimer’s. Emily is an Executive Board Member of the Day of Caring South Florida for Breast Cancer Awareness.She also volunteers for programs such as City Year Miami that support inner city schools.
Emily’s favorite vacation spot is Paris and she enjoys cycling, yoga, running, boating, art, cooking, and meditation. She and her son, Michael, continue to be committed to community service.
