Should You Still Buy Green Bananas When You’re 80 Years Old?

3. He was a man of HIS HOUSE
When I say he was a man of “HIS HOUSE” I don’t say it lightly. You see, this special man is the father of 3 girls and 1 boy, and was also a Missionary Pastor in Haiti in the 1970’s. I spent many days and nights as part of his family and had many sleepovers, laughs, projects and we had many “we are in big trouble” times that took place there. He was more of a quiet man whose voice spoke louder with his actions than his volume.
This is how he SHOWED himself as the man of HIS HOUSE. His leadership was steady, disciplined, and you always knew where you stood with him. His steadiness kept you grounded and focused on where you needed to be at all times.
By him knowing his place, you knew yours.
So his birthday celebration was joyful and full of humor. A day well spent among sweet memories and even sweeter people. As our day grew to a close, he took the time to thank his guests for coming and say a few words of wisdom along with humor and said, “When you get to be my age, there are a few things you stop doing, one is you stop planning so far ahead and the other is you stop buying green bananas.”
