The Law of Attraction…Let’s Be Practical

by Josi Gago

Attract what and who you want to be, it is your choice and you have the power.

Have you ever found yourself thinking about a person you haven’t seen in a while and suddenly they call you out of the blue?

Or how about when you go to dinner with a close friend and both of you order the same meal…at the same time! Is this all by chance or did you attract this “thing” towards you?

The Law of Attraction

There are many laws and rules we live by, some are common sense rules and others are ideas we learn and pick up along the way. There are “laws of the land” and “natural laws” and then there are those rules and laws we easily break and don’t give much thought to like, speeding or using the “wrong” fork at the dinner table.

We also have those somewhat abstract laws like, The Law of Attraction, which is the one I think about when we keep thinking about someone and then suddenly they show up in our lives. The question is, “Did we really attract them or were they going to show up anyway?”

The Law of Attraction according to Wikipedia…a most reliable source…lol…goes something like this. “The law of attraction is the name given to the maxim “like attracts like” which in New Thought philosophy is used to sum up the idea that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts a person brings positive or negative experience into their life.”

This belief is based upon the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from “pure energy”, and the belief that like energy attracts like energy. It goes on to say that the trouble is in the mind, for the body is only the house for the mind to dwell in, and the mind, body, and spirit are all connected.

So based on this law, we did attract something on some level.

Look at those who surround you

When you pause and study your own experiences of similar things, I am sure you will find there are many.  Whether you give yourself the power or not is the key to making a difference.  The idea that we can affect the outcome is by far more exciting to think about and fun to play with in the end.

Take a look at your life, those you surround yourself with and recognize that you have the power to attract what you want.  So whether it’s a job, a lifestyle, friends, or anything in between, you have the power to drive it home and make it happen the way you want it to be.

Pretty cool!

Takeway

So for example, if sailing is something you have always wanted to explore, make the decision to pursue it.

Surround yourself with like-minded people by joining a sailing club for example. Subscribe to a sailing magazine and bring yourself (draw) closer to this world of sailing. This would be a form of “attracting” what you want, or “making it happen”.

I don’t see it as magical thinking as some might suggest or as I have been accused of being a bit to “yogi-like”, I do simply think it’s a practical way of drawing what you want into your life and therefore attracting it.

So whether it’s a law, a rule or simply a strategy for life, if in the end it brings you closer to where you want to be, go there and be. Attract what and who you want to be, it is your choice and you have the power.
