Carbon Free Plastics for a Green Small Business
.
Why a sustainable brand through carbon fee plastics matters.
So, you may be asking yourself, “Carbon-free plastics sounds like a great idea, but why should I care?”
Sustainability or Green is core to a small business brand…customers expect it.
In today’s marketplace, businesses of any size and industry are being challenged by their customers and other stakeholders to become more environmentally friendly by reducing their carbon footprint. In that regard, many businesses want to be seen as ‘doing the right thing’ by playing their part in reducing the risk of climate change. This has led to many companies adopting sustainability as a business model.
Sustainability is the ability to meet humanity’s needs without harming future generations and now makes up many corporate agendas. In fact, many corporations – including Coca-Cola, AT&T, and DuPont – have even created the position of Chief Sustainability Officer. Further, developing a sustainability mind-set offers a triple bottom line – people, planet, and profit. Yes, and it’s a proven fact, companies can become more profitable by reducing their carbon footprint.
The Pope and sustainability
Perhaps the best reason for caring is that Pope Francis, who begins his tour of the United States in September 2015, has challenged all of us to help reduce the impact of climate change. The vision that Francis outlined in his recent 184-page papal encyclical is sweeping in ambition and scope: He describes relentless exploitation and destruction of the environment and says apathy, the reckless pursuit of profits, excessive faith in technology and political shortsightedness are to blame. The most vulnerable victims, he declares, are the world’s poorest people, who are being dislocated and disregarded.
So, the next time you need to purchase plastics-based products for your small or medium-sized business, let’s all do our part by looking for the “I’m Green” seal of approval.
