The Designated Market Area of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, with a current population of 4,551,263 stretches from the Iowa border in the south all the way up to Red Lake near the Canadian border in the northern part of the state. It also includes seven counties in western Wisconsin.
Minneapolis and St. Paul are commonly referred to as The Twin Cities and the DMA comprises more than 186 different cities and townships. Although the population is mostly non- Hispanic White at 82%, the second-largest minority is the Hispanic population. Of the 222,446 Latinos, more than 171,000 are of Mexican heritage. Nearly 70% of the Latinos in the DMA are bi-lingual and bi-cultural, segmenting into HA2 through HA4 HispanicityTM segments.
New York DMA
The New York Designated Market Area (DMA) is the most populous and densely populated area in the U.S. with a total 2011 population of 20,977,155 and a population density of 1,865 persons per square mile. The New York DMA includes all five boroughs of New York City, all of Long Island, portions of New York State, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pike County, Pennsylvania. There are more than 7,670,000 households in the DMA and the median annual household income is greater than $66,000.
The racial and ethnic mix of New York is extremely complex. The non-Hispanic White population, made up of many different European ethnicities is currently about half of the population, but by 2016 will represent less than 50% of the total, creating a minority-majority.
