This is the third year for the IBM SmartCamp program. The 2010 SmartCamp Finals winner/Global Entrepreneur of the Year was Streetline, a San Francisco based startup offering a Smartphone solution allowing citizens to find inexpensive parking fast while helping cities manage their parking resources more efficiently. The 2011 SmartCamp Finals winner/Global Entrepreneur of the year was Profitero, a UK based company that analyzes competitor pricing data, offering retailers new levels of insight to help them maximize profits by adjusting pricing and merchandising strategies.

Background on the 2011 SmartCamp Finals
    • Nine technology start-ups from around the world having solutions with a Smarter Planet focus competed to be named IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year
    • These nine finalists were selected among nearly one thousand applicants. By winning their local SmartCamp competition, they earned a spot in the finals to go head to head with the best in the world
    • The IBM SmartCamp Global Finals will bring together hundreds of leading venture capitalists, industry experts, press, analysts, entrepreneurial organizations and academics to network and celebrate entrepreneurship
    • There were nine SmartCamps held in 2011: Austin Texas, New York, NY, Bangalore India, Tel Aviv Israel. Shanghai China, Rio de Janiero Brazil, London England, Istanbul Turkey, and Barcelona Spai

    • Profitero, headquartered in Dublin; winner of SmartCamp London — Analyzes on-line competitive info for retailers. Named IBM Global Entrepreneur 2011—winner of global finals
    • IDXP, headquartered in Brazil; winner of SmartCamp Rio — Smart sensors in shopping carts to monitor consumer behavior in real time
    • Palmap, headquartered in Shanghai; winner of SmartCamp Shanghai — Indoor mapping system/POI platform
    • C-B4, headquartered in Tel Aviv; winner of SmartCamp Tel Aviv — Context based analytics for hidden data patterns in large scale data warehouse
    • Localytics, headquartered in Boston; winner of SmartCamp New York — Real-time data analysis for mobile applications
    • SecureWaters, headquartered in Tennessee; winner of SmartCamp Austin –Commercializes patented technology that monitors, detects and identifies toxins in surface water.
