Meet Caroline C. Villanueva, 2025 Hispanic Woman of Distinction, South Florida External Affairs Director, Florida Crystals

“Hispanic woman who have achieved success in their career are most likely to mentor and help those who are just starting out to achieve their goals.”

Meet Caroline C. Villanueva, South Florida External Affairs Director, Florida CrystalsCaroline Villanueva is one of the first  to say how sweet it is working for the only Florida-based regenerative and organic baking sugar growers at Florida Crystals for the last fifteen years. As the South Florida External Affairs Director, she is responsible for projects pertaining to policy, economic development and community relations.  Through the company she started an appreciation program for their retirees’ long-term efforts for the company, a program which gives her great personal pride.

She received her undergraduate business degree from the University of Miami and her Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from The Heinz School at Carnegie Mellon University. She also is a graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County and the University of Florida’s Wedgworth Leadership Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Caroline began her career at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (aka the General Accounting Office) working on program evaluation and policy analysis. She then joined the private sector at Lennar where she learned about the development process working with multi-disciplinary consultants, landowners and various community stakeholders.

She is actively involved with numerous professional organizations such as the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches and  the Palm Beach County Health Care District’s Lakeside Health Advisory Board and serves on the boards of the Palm Beach County chapter of the United Way, Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, Western Palm Beach County Farm Bureau, and the Lake Okeechobee Regional Economic Alliance.

Her efforts earned Caroline the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches’ Young Professional ATHENA Award, and she believes that her favorite honor is serving as a mentor through Take Stock in Children.

Caroline and her husband, Timothy Miller, a high school teacher and girls soccer coach, enjoy spending time with their children Matias and Cruz. A favorite vacation spot is Caroline’s parents homeland of Peru.
