Latina Nicaraguan- American Attorney and a Leader in Broward County
Meet Nazarena Rosales Hauser, 2023 Hispanic Woman of Distinction, Founding Partner, Family Matters Law Group, PA
“Hispanic women are a force, and we become much more successful when we support one another. This generation of Hispanic women needs to stretch out their hands and help lift the next generation up – we are stronger together.
Easily one of the more emotionally-challenging areas of law is family law. It takes a special type of lawyer with not only the proper knowledge and experience, but also the right sensitivity to help clients navigate through often painful issues they are not equipped to deal with alone. Nazarena Rosales Hauser is just such an attorney.
Nazarena’s family history likely plays a large role in the compassion she brings to her work.
Her grandparents were forced to escape Nicaragua because her grandfather had held a high office when the Sandinista regime’s took over and her uncle was kidnapped. They, along with their six children and two grandchildren, arrived in the U.S. with only a few hundred dollars and no knowledge of English.
They toiled endlessly in low-level jobs and Nazarena’s mother was forced to leave school at 15 and go to work to help support the family. Watching her mother’s and Abuelita’s incredible work ethic and devotion to family inspired Nazarena to dedicate herself to helping others.
She graduated with honors and several scholarships with a B.A. in Psychology and Criminology and a minor in Philosophy from the University of Miami and her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Board Law Center.
After starting at Coast-to-Coast Legal Aid of South Florida, she worked as an Assistant State Attorney in the Broward County State Attorney’s Office before becoming a Litigation Associate and Guardian ad Litem at the Solaris Law Group where she became more heavily involved in family law.
Nazarena and her partner then opened the Family Matters Law Group in 2017. Nazarena supervises and trains staff, manages a heavy caseload as head of their litigation department and is regularly selected by judges to be a Guardian ad Litem.
In addition to her work, Nazarena holds leadership roles in the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association (BCHBA), Hispanic Vote of Broward County, Broward County Bar Association (BCBA) and was appointed to the Broward County Police and Criminal Justice Review Board.
She co-founded a Legal Empowerment Series through BCHBA and in partnership with Hispanic Unity of Florida, created a variety of workshops for the local legal industry, has published numerous articles on family law and offers her expertise at various conferences. In the community she has organized school supplies, toys and food drives.
She was a Culture Award Recipient during the Caribbean American History Month, a Women’s History Month Honoree and the President’s Award recipient by the BCHBA, named in the Top 40 Under 40 from the BCBA and she was a Women’s History Month Honoree from the Broward County Women Lawyers Association.
For relaxation, just put Nazarena, her husband, Todd, a business intelligence manager, and their two children, Katherine and Jacob, on a beach with a good book and she’s happy.
