Ahhh…the scent of fashion is once again in the crisp fall air! The excitement of yet another NYFW is beginning!

I’m always inspired by the creative vision of emerging design talent—in some cases, these designers have been making and selling their collections for quite some time, but until they have the opportunity for mainstream exposure and wider audiences.

They go relatively unnoticed continuing to work under the radar and missing out on business opportunities to grow their brand. I love to scout out much of this talent and see who and what is the next big thing!

Last night’s kick-off shows to present Spring/Summer 2018 were no disappointment.

The venue was the iconic Intrepid Air & Space Museum located on the Hudson River waterfront of NYC so already I knew the shows were going to be spectacular. The host of the evening’s events being Style Fashion Week who produces many fashion shows across America providing top designers with world class platforms to showcase their collections.

Monday night’s opening collection was Mexico City based, Gregorio Sanchez.

With its contrast of mid weight sateen finish feminine fabrics to create wide leg trousers, crop tops, pencil skirts, jackets, and voluminous skirts playing against semi transparent draping, flowy chiffon fabrics  for loose fit plunging v-neck blouses and billowing hems and dresses, the look was all about tailored femininity with an ethnic twist.

Great separates to mix and match.

Great separates to mix and match. The pops of color from these fun whimsical medallions create that little something “unexpected” when it comes to a tailored look.
