It’s time for a round 2 of last weekend’s shows and share what some of the great new Spring 2016 concepts!
I hope you have been enjoying New York’s fashion week as much as I have in part 1 The Inside Scoop on a Stellar New York Week of Full-on Fashion!. It gets me super excited to get through the winter and be ready for “what’s in store” literally when the snow melts.
In my previous article, I hi-lighted some of the first shows of last week and there was definitely a trend to a much more clean lined sophistication—lots of architectural shapes and cut-outs. Lots of white with just some limited bright pops of color—each designer keying in on a signature color to put the cherry on top of their collections.
Through-out the weekend, many of my favorite shows had a much more soft and romantic feel in their collections—more beautiful drape, additions of shimmery charmeuse and sequined fabrics, pretty mid-tone feminine colors, soft prints—you’ll see the difference…..
Jill Stuart
Beautifully restrained prints on soft butter cream ground colors look so delicious and pairing them up with beautiful blueberry and raspberry shades is even more decadent
Already you can see the difference from earlier NYFS collections. The colors in Jill Stuart’s palette for the season are so lovely. They look almost edible.
One key trend you’ll see through-out spring is a lot of bare midriffs. Between plenty of pretty sporty bra tops, body con and flouncy strapless bandeaus—there is a high-light on the midriff. I also love the front slit wide leg pants. These look so new.
Plenty of feminine shapes from Jill Stuart for Spring 2016
With her use of charmeuse and lady-like shapes from the dirndle skirt, to the slip cami, and, and the cold shoulder dress that evokes an “Art Deco” era there is a vintage feel in her modern approach to the collection.
Herve Leger
Nude to pale colors are predominant in our favorite body con designer’s collection
Leger’s signature body-conscious bandage dresses continue on for his loyal following. There was an abundance of strappy shoulder detailing as well as strapless dressing—plenty of reasons to show off sexy shoulders.
What I wasn’t expecting was THIS!!!!
OMG!!! For those of us who love Leger’s signature look, these styles were a bit of a departure, but I am so in love with the 2 piece pant sets! Shades of the ’70! How could anyone modernize the ‘70’s pantsuit and make it look so tasty! This is genius. And his other fun detail was the window-pane patternwork with floral—such a fun whimsical detail on his body-con dresses. Bravo!
Tibi
No one can say modern essentials for Spring 2016 any better than this!
Fashionistas, TRUST ME when I tell you, this is what you’ll be seeing at all of the mass and update retailers as core silhouettes for Spring 2016—culottes, an easy boxy woven blouse, an easy tank dress, slim tee, paperbag waist skirt, sexy drapey woven cami, relaxed wide leg pants, and a spring weight anorak. We have just identified your new wardrobe staples. Tibi did a great job of nailing must have easy pieces. I am certain that from Banana Republic, Zara, to H&M—this is what we’ll see as far as key silhouettes. And once again—notice the clean palette of white and champagne.
Tibi does fashion updates too!
So now we take a look at a bit more on the fashion elements of Tibi. What I love are the seemingly fall dark colors of burgundy and olive combined with spring friendly brights.
Also, notice that the same core essential pieces when colored up in burgundy and black and given a sheen of bling fabric turns up the wow factor on otherwise basic bodies.
And the sporty aspects of fun color-blocking as well as athletic bodies like an anorak and drawstring funnel get amped up to dress up wear and by using fun feminine tech fabrics—some with sheen.
